With the global landscape changing so rapidly over the last few years, I think it brings with it a greater appetite for social change - for making the world a better, fairer place for all of us and all our children.

And this issue is all about the role models that we can turn to when we are thinking about that change, and the possibilities of play to help our children with making sense of the world around them.

I loved Emma Worrollo’s article about why role play can feel like a chore for us (I am just the worst at pretend play!), and how we can break through that - if you have the same problem as me. I’ve also been getting fully into the comfort food mode, so I was delighted to read these new recipes from Hugh Fearnley- Whittingstall which get more goodness into our fave winter dishes.

We’ve also had a redesign! A huge thank you to Frankie for this change, which I hope you will love as much as I do. Frankie has designed Sonshine since the beginning and it’s her work that totally brings it to life! Our new design is made by the cover illustration, from the brilliant Hannah Raymond.
