The Perfect New Baby Gift?
We’ve found it, the perfect baby gift. Now obviously we think ALL of our products are the perfect gift, but this one is slightly more perfecter. We’re actually really annoyed we didn’t have this when our kids were babies.
We’ve found a brand who make amazing sensory toys for babies and children. When we found them we knew we’d found something special.
What is a sensory toy? It’s a phrase bandied about - but not all sensory toys were created equal. A sensory toy is designed to stimulate one or more of the senses: sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. This is achieved through different textures, sounds, lights, movements or other sensory experience. These toys are often used to help children, particularly those with sensory processing disorders, autism, ADHD or other developmental challenges, to explore and engage with their senses in a safe and fun way.
We are obsessed with toys that serve a purpose to children over a number of years as opposed to just a year or even a few months. We believe that we should all be buying less and buying better quality, to reduce our consumption and to focus on toys that will last and can be passed down. To be loved for many years they need to be multifunctional. To be passed down they need to be durable.
Enter this range of sensory toys. Suitable from birth and will be loved for years, we’ve seen older kids in the shop who are fascinated by these toys.
Their range is formidable. We have a whole section in both shops dedicated to them and they’re the first thing people are drawn to.
Why are they so good?
Great question. Often toys can be too complicated and over-stimulating for little minds, creating noises or lights that are unnecessary and distracting, not to mention driving the grown-ups present slowly mad.
The beauty of this range is the simplicity. They are made of stainless steel and are basically just shapes that make a gentle noise, though they are much more than that. They have been thoughtfully created to provide different sounds, different weights, and even perform different actions when rolled.
Their products range in size and price. The one we want to recommend here we believe will fit most budgets, coming in at £24.
Sensory Reflective Sound Buttons
This is a set of three equally-sized ‘buttons’ in three different colours - silver, gold and colour-burst. Each button makes a different gentle rattle sound when shaken, and each provides a fish-eye reflection which will capture the attention of any baby or child.
Like the rest of the collection, they are made of ultra-strong stainless steel, making them naturally anti-bacterial and therefore safe for going in and out of little mouths. We love these in particular because they are the perfect size to pop in a pocket when on-the-go with baby.
